Worlds at Glasgow
When we head to Glasgow for our World Street Dance Championships in just one week, we want it to be our biggest and best competition to date. We will be welcoming over 10,000 dancers, spectators, and teachers from over 35 countries, and we cannot wait to watch the world-class performances. Dancers of all ages and abilities will be competing, or taking part in workshops, and we love that our events offer dancers of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities the chance to come together.
We are so proud to be part of the thriving arts scene in Glasgow, and we are humbled to be contributing to Scotland’s Year of Young People through our street dance event. The amazing team at People Make Glasgow have not only made us and our international dancers feel welcome every year that we've hosted Worlds in Glasgow's SEC, they have also inspired us to celebrate individuality. We love how the arts in Glasgow – especially the dance events – cater to eclectic tastes; from our Street Dance Championships to Scottish Ballet and everything in between, there really is something for everyone.
Glasgow is home to some incredible dance spaces, so if you’re coming over to the UK for Worlds, make your trip count: throughout August, check out Glasgow’s King’s Theatre for ever-popular dance shows, or head to Glasgow’s East End for unique art spaces and creative vibes. If urban events are more your style, don’t miss the Youth Urban Games, featuring all kinds of urban sports and events, from bmx to parkour to skateboarding.
Whether you’re coming to Worlds with a Workshop Weekend Spectator Pass, or you plan to compete for a World Champion title, we just love that you’ll be able to take advantage of the city in your down time. What’s more, we want to help you enjoy Glasgow to the max; with our Worlds Golden Ticket Pass, why not treat yourself? All attendees will get discounts to range of restaurants, cafes, bars, and events on offer!
So why are we bidding farewell to Glasgow for our 2018/19 season? As an international company, we have to know when it’s time to pursue our next adventure. We want to use this final year in Glasgow to celebrate the great times we’ve had with our dancers, families, and teachers at the SEC. We are looking forward to going back to Blackpool – where it all began for us! – and we hope our UDO family will join us in saying a massive thank you, and goodbye, to Glasgow.
