With the biggest British Street Dance Championships taking place in less than one month (how has it been a year already since the 2018 British Championships?), we wanted to give you a flavour of what you can expect this year!
With dancers from across Britain descending on Somerset ready to showcase the #BestofBritish, we expect 2019 will be an incredible year.
Here’s just a few things you can look forward too..
Workshops to suit everyone
This year a variety of workshops will be held across different styles including: hip hop, dance hall, litefeet and commerical.
And if you haven’t heard already, the pioneer of Litefeet himself, Chrybaby Cozie will be teaching the Litefeet masterclass! You truly can learn from the best at UDO British, in a style that you love. We’ll be revealing the full workshop lineup this week on our social media channels, so stay tuned!
SuperCrews + Crew Battles
2019 is the year that the SuperCrew category makes its way to the British Street Dance Championships stage! With over 18 dancers in each team, we can’t wait to watch the synchronicity and stories each crew will convey through their performance. Looking for inspiration and advice for your SuperCrew performance? Head to the blog here.
Sunday evening will also see the Crew Battles commence! If you’re spectating, the crew battles are sure to keep you at the edge of your seat! What crew will reign top this year?
Family Categories
Every year, the British Street Dance Championships promises to be an event that family & friends will enjoy: especially as the parent teams and parent and child duo categories make an appearance. Mums, Dads, Nans and Grandads, why don’t you get your dancing shoes on and see if you can be crowned a British Street Dance Champion?
Music Performances - Misunderstood & Mike Platt
This year we’re so excited to be bringing you performances from the Voice UK star Mike Platt & X Factor duo Misunderstood. With Welsh singer Mike Platt turning round all 4 judges on his blind audition, we’re sure he’ll be wowing the crowd with his powerful voice on Friday 15th March. On Saturday, R & B duo Misunderstood will be bringing their larger than life, feel good energy on to the stage, and we can’t wait to see what material they’ll be performing!
Parties!
What is a UDO British Championships without a fancy dress party, you ask? With last years superheroes attire, and the incredible 90s theme the year before, this year it’s down to the dance school to choose their theme. What will your dance school be dressing up as this year? Pyjama party? Wheres Wally? Wild West? The choice is yours, and we can't wait to see which dance school will have the best fancy dress costume.
What are you most looking forward too? How hard are your team training? Let us know on social using #UDOBritish19
